Umpire Program Breaking News Umpire-in-Chief, Ron
Summers has joined the 18% of Elkhart County residents who are no longer

asauic55@comcast.net. The Indiana ASA Executive Board
has mandated background checks for all Indiana ASA Umpires
beginning January 1, 2009. In order to guarantee the safety of all
participants and limit the liability to Indiana ASA, each umpire who
registers with Indiana ASA in 2009 will be required to submit to a
background check that will be limited in scope to serious felony crimes
against children and society, and multiple felony driving violations.
Personal credit history is not part of this
background check. Registering umpires will be required to
sign an authorization form and provide full legal name, social security
number, and drivers license information. This sensitive information
will be maintained, safeguarded, and available to only the Indiana ASA
State Umpire-in-Chief Fechheimer umpire pants are now
required to work National tournaments. At the ASA National
Convention the National Umpire Staff voted to require Fechheimer umpire
pants be worn by all umpires who work National tournaments. Indiana ASA
State Umpire-in-Chief, Ron Summers is stocking up accordingly on both
navy blue and gray Fechheimer pants. These are the same pants that
Indiana ASA has been selling for several years.
